The parsing and dissecting of partisan-produced statistics is nice for the politically engaged news junkie. Sadly, it's of little consequence on a practical level and does little for the less engaged masses who, like it or not, rely more on handy, truthy labels and perceptions grounded in "conventional wisdom" as their "rule of thumb" political compass to guide their loyalty, sense of priorties and, hence, their vote.
Pragmatically, I see no need to dig deep into the numbers to find good points worth building on. The best points are the simplest, most far-reaching ones. These points STICK, are easy to grasp and do more to turn heads and raise eyebrows than un-spinning any vague stats about job creation, wage growth, budgetary details or whatever ultimately meaningless (for the masses) number you can find.
Consider these as the biggest GOP economic lies of them all:
1. Republicans fight for limited government.
2. Republcians believe in free markets.
